4.3.11.1 Ignition delay. The ignition delay shall be measured from the initiation of the inlet SMDC test
tip to the detonation of the outlet SMDC test tip. Each initiator shall meet the requirements of 3.4.4.1.
4.3.11.2 High order detonation. High order detonation of the output SMDC test tip shall be
demonstrated in a 6061-T6 Aluminum witness plate. Each initiator shall meet the requirements of
3.4.4.2.
4.3.11.3 Misfire. An initiator that does not fire under the conditions specified in 4.3.11 shall be
considered defective, and the lot shall be considered unacceptable, unless the misfire is clearly
attributable to faulty test equipment or procedure. Each initiator shall meet the requirements of 3.4.4.3.
4.3.11.4 Test failure. If test failure is attributable to an assignable cause, excluding the test initiator, the
original test results shall be discarded and that test reconducted.
5. PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified in the
contract or order (see 6.2). When actual packaging of material is to be performed by DoD personnel,
these personnel need to contact the responsible packaging activity to ascertain requisite packaging
requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory Control Points packaging activity
within the Military Department or Defense Agency, or within the Military Department's System
Command. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing Military Department's or Agency's
automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or by contacting the responsible packaging activity.
