4.5.1 Lot size. Unless otherwise specified in the contract the cartridge production lot size shall be 5,000
minimum to 20,000 maximum. Cartridges required for all test purposes shall be randomly selected from
the production lot and will not be applied as a part of the quantity specified for delivery by the contract.
Only primary components from a single lot shall be used in a production lot of cartridges; however, one
primary component production lot may be used in more than one cartridge production lot. Cartridges
selected for the ballistic tests shall be delivered to the activity designated by the contracting agency.
4.5.2 Sampling. Unless otherwise specified, and when applicable, the sampling plans and procedures
used in the determination of the acceptability of products submitted by a supplier shall be in accordance
with the provisions of ANSI/ASQC Z1.4, inspection level I with all functional testing conducted with the
criteria accept 0 reject 1. In addition, 10 cartridges shall be randomly selected from each lot and retained
for investigative purposes.
4.5.3 Packaging, packing and marking. Quality conformance inspection shall be conducted in
accordance with the inspection criteria on the applicable drawings referenced in Section 5.
4.6 First article tests.
4.6.1 Header glass seal assembly. The header glass seal assembly shall be inspected for conformance to
the requirements of Drawing 5184834. The header glass seal assembly shall undergo the tests listed below
and meet the requirements specified on Drawing 5184834.
4.6.1.1 Dead load. The header glass seal assembly shall be capable of supporting a 300 pound dead load
as detailed on Drawing 5184834.
4.6.1.2 Header integrity test. The header glass seal assembly shall be capable of withstanding 30,000 ±
500 psi hydrostatic pressure as detailed on Drawing 5184834.
4.6.1.3 Dielectric withstanding voltage. The header glass seal assembly shall meet the requirements of
the dielectric withstanding voltage test as detailed on Drawing 5184834.
