MIL-T-46604B
3.1 Materials. All materials used in the manufacture of the thrusters shall conform to the specifications referred to on the respective drawings unless specific approval in writing covering a departure therefrom has been obtained from the cognizant Navy design activity prior to manufacture. When alternate materials or methods of manufacture are specified on the drawings, the bidder's selections shall be clearly stated in the proposal.
3.2 Components.
3.2.1 Primary components. For the purpose of this specification, the M119 impulse cartridge (Drawing
8595513) is defined as a primary component. Only primary components from a single lot shall be used in a production lot of thrusters; however, one primary component production lot may be used in more than one thruster production lot.
3.2.2 Component parts. All component parts shall meet the applicable requirements of MIL-T-46605 or MIL-T-60801 prior to assembly.
3.3 Torque. Torque requirements shall be as specified in table I. No movement shall occur upon application of the breakaway torque.

3.4 Residual magnetism. The thruster shall not deflect the indicator of the compass more than five degrees in either direction (see 4.3.2).
3.5 Radiographic examination. Each thruster assembly shall be radiographically examined for defects
(see 4.3.3).
3.6 Functional.
3.6.1 Load. The thruster fired under load shall perform in accordance with 3.6.1.1 through 3.6.1.6.
3.6.1.1 Resistive load. With the thruster connected to a 70-pound weight, the piston shall push the weight vertically or horizontally with a resistive load equal to the pull gravity on a 70-pound weight and, in addition, shear a 2000-pound shear pin during the first movement of the weight.
3.6.1.2 Thrust. The thrust developed shall not exceed 5000 pounds.
